How do the musicians dress? Unless otherwise requested we wear black, smart evening wear. What do you require at the venue? We need four chairs without arms, and an area about 8 foot square. It is helpful to appoint someone to liaise with us, for example to signal the entrance of the bride or the imminence of speeches. Usually this is done by staff at the venue, but it would be useful if you could confirm this with your co-ordinator beforehand. Do you play outdoors? We often play outside on grass or a hard surface, but for the sake of the instruments - as well as our fingers - we need a minimum temperature of about 65° F (18° C) as well as shelter from rain or direct sunlight. Please tell the venue that you may want us to play outdoors, if the weather is suitable, so that arrangements can be made for shelter and chairs. Does the quartet take a break? To maintain the high quality of sound, we will need to take a short break (and refreshing drink!) every hour. We try to keep breaks as short as possible, normally no more than 10 minutes per hour. If we are playing for 2 hours, we usually take only 1 break (a maximum of 15 minutes). Breaks are part of the time you have booked us for. Can the quartet play for longer than I originally booked? We will be happy to stay (subject to availability) should you need us to play for longer than originally planned. For further information, please see the booking 'terms and conditions' on our booking form - available on request. |
